Center for Accounting Education

CAE is a nationwide organization based at Howard University that addresses unique challenges young African Americans face when entering the accounting profession by offering programs and resources that prepare them to succeed. CAE addresses the corporate diversity challenge by attracting more African Americans to the profession and improving their retention and upward mobility through outreach, leadership skills training, thought leadership papers, scholarships to accounting students, and support of faculty development. Well-designed programs serve accounting professionals at all levels: students considering an accounting career, accountants starting their career, and those preparing for the CPA exam, middle managers, and potential senior leaders.

The Center for Career Excellence (CCE) was established to assist students with navigating the many industries and career opportunities presented to them at the School of Business. The CCE is an excellent resource to assist you in exploring career options, honing professional skills, and engaging with many of our leading career partners that recruit at Howard. Exploring your career options and searching for internships can be a challenging process but our CCE team, the exposure we provide to our HUSB career partners, and our professional development resources will empower you in successfully navigating your career goals.

Center for Cybersecurity Education and Research

The Howard University Cyber-Security Education and Research Center (CERC) was established in 2010. It is a multi-disciplinary center led by professors from the Department of Information Systems in the School of Business and the Department of Systems and Computer Science, with the participation of faculty the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Department of Mathematics, and the School of Law. The objective of CERC is to provide an avenue for education and research in information assurance, computer network security, digital forensics, cryptography, risk assessment and mitigation, disaster recovery and management, security regulations and compliance, and information security management.

HPS Center for Financial Excellence (HPS-CFE)

The purpose of the HPS Center for Financial Excellence is to provide innovative student programming that produces high-caliber graduates for careers in finance, especially in the areas of investment and wealth management, commercial and investment banking, and private equity. The Center offers a forum for academicians and industry professionals to work on matters that impact the financial services community through an advanced curriculum, learning tools, experiential learning, workshops, presentations, and webinars. The goal is to benefit Business School students, faculty, industry stakeholders, and other constituents in the financial services sector.

Center for Insurance Education

The Center for Insurance Education (CIE) was created in 1978 to accommodate the insurance industry’s need for better-educated employees in the field. The CIE is the portal through which the insurance industry accesses more than 1500 students in the School of Business each year. The Howard University Center for Insurance Education interacts with and secures financial support from many fine institutions and organizations that are dedicated to the fulfillment of the CIE purpose. Support has been provided by Aetna, AIG, Allstate, American Family, Aon, Chubb, CNA, HAI Group, Hartford, Marsh, Nationwide, Northwestern Mutual, Principal Financial, Prudential, State Farm, Towers Watson, Travelers, The American College, The Institutes, Society of Actuaries/Casualty Actuarial Society, International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA), Casualty Actuaries of the Mid-Atlantic Region (CAMAR), National African America Insurance Association (NAAIA), RIMS, CPCU Chapters, CLU/ChFC chapters, MDRT and many others.

Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management

The Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management (CESCM) supports the MBA and undergraduate programs of the Howard University School of Business.  James Haddow and Eric Williams, respectively a former A.T. Kearney and a former American Express executive, direct the inner workings of the Center. Both the undergraduate and graduate programs provide degrees with a concentration in Supply Chain Management.  Howard’s CESCM and Supply Chain Management program prepares students for successful careers in world-class demand, logistics,  and supply management positions.

In addition, the CESCM provides undergraduate and MBA Supply Chain Management students with exposure to real-world corporations, government entities, and their respective supply chains.  Our advisory board and corporate partners provide SCM students with internships, class lectures, corporate site visits, supply chain conferences, scholarships, and curriculum input to prepare them for a high-performance career in supply chain management.

PNC National Center for Entrepreneurship

The Howard University & PNC National Center for Entrepreneurship is aimed at building resources and support for Black business owners across the country. The center will support expanded opportunities for Black entrepreneurship with enhanced educational, leadership and capacity-building resources and programs nationwide.

This includes creating curriculum and educational content, partnering with Black-owned businesses to improve credit and access to capital, providing students hands-on experience working with Black-owned businesses, providing access to technologies that can increase success and much more. The national Center is located on Howard University's campus, but also includes programming at three other regional HBCUs (Morgan State University, Texas Southern University, & Clark Atlanta University), which will coordinate programs, research and other community outreach efforts at partner HBCUs across the country.
